Please allow me to offer some basics first:There is ("the all new") Webex (formerly called Webex-Teams formerly called Cisco Spark - just in case you find these names via Internet-Search...)And there is Webex-Meetings.Webex-Meetings is the name for the "old style" of Webex: schedule a meeting in e.g. Outlook, send a meeting-invitation which contains (added by the Webex-PlugIn) an internet-link to the Video-meeting and perhaps some phone-numbers etc.Chat as a communication-option was/is only available during such a meeting = meeting over: no more chat with meeting-participants.Increasing demand for faster communication caused Cisco to develop a new tool that covers the whole range: from text-Chat to audio-calling (1:1 or 1:n) , Video-Calls (1:1) up to Video-Meetings (1:n) to stay in contact before, during and after the meeting. This new tool was released 5 (?) years ago called Cisco Spark, later renamed to Webex-Teams and now just called "Webex".Since written communication is a key element of that tool it does offer spellcheck. As it seems, Cisco is going to focus more and more on the new Webex since it offers more features for the customer - for the same price.I hardly ever use the "classic" Webex-Meetings Client (because of the new Webex), but based on postings I have read here, it seems that the Webex-Meetings-Client does not offer a spellcheck-module.. Step 2: Download the Webex Client. Once you have created a Webex account, you need to download the Webex client. Indication (MWI) and transcript in the client Limitations and restrictions The following are the known limitations and restrictions of Webex Calling for Chrome: Calling from the web client uses default audio input and output devices of the system. There’s no support for the user to select a specific device from the client. If you have multiple devices, for example, a docking station with a monitor, then you must select the audio input/output device of the monitor in the OS settings (for example, Windows settings). You can have only one browser client that is connected to Webex Calling. If you sign in from another instance of the client, you are signed out from the earlier session. Web client users in India can’t make or receive PSTN calls. For administrators only. Through your Unified CM environment, use midcall features, and control their Unified CM registered desk phone from Webex App. 2 Validate Unified CM service discovery. Service discovery enables clients to automatically detect and locate services on your enterprise (internal) and MRA (external) network. This configuration may already be in place, but check the deployment guide in this step and your environment to verify. 3 Update Unified CM configuration file. Webex App leverages the same configuration file as Jabber You can use this embedded Unified CM to configure various client functionality, such as specific calling features and the Jabber to Webex App migration tool. See the Policy Parameters documentation for a list of supported parameters for Webex App. Webex App already includes most knowledge worker calling features. However, in some cases, a small subset of your users may need more advanced calling features that aren't yet in Webex App, such as contact center features and multiline. You can use Webex App with a cross-launch to Jabber as an interim solution. This option opens Jabber when a user makes a call from Webex App; incoming calls also ring in Jabber directly. For more information, see the Webex App with Jabber Cross Launch documentation at Deploy Webex App app and customize the deployment, including update frequency, communication to your users, and migrating user data from Jabber to Webex App. When you're ready, decommission the previous messaging organization. 1 Run a trial deployment. We recommend a trial of Webex App with select users before you roll it out to the entire organization. 2 Deploy the Webex App app: Installation and automatic upgrade: Webex App periodically checks for newer versions to automatically upgrade the app. Desktop update controls: You can set the frequency of Webex App updates for users in your organization. Users can also self-serve and install Webex App themselves. They can download the desktop or mobile versions from You can control the product updates for Webex App. You can also use a deferral period to preview the app before your users are updated. 3 Help users migrate their data from Jabber to Webex App: Configure Users to Move Jabber Contacts and Common Settings (Admin) User guide for moving settings (Users) The migration tool is built into Jabber and provides a way to migrate contacts and other common user preferences from Jabber to Webex App. The data is encrypted. Now that you've deployed Webex App to your users, you can set them up for this migration. Configure some settings before users see this option pop up automatically in Jabber. They can use the user guide to help them walk through the migration. 4 Decommission Messenger org. When you're all up and running with your Control Hub organization, you've notified your users of the change, and you're ready, contact your Cisco account representative or partner to have your old Messenger org decommissioned. Need some help? We've got you. Reach out to your Cisco account representative or partner for assistance. Get everything you need to implement. Step 2: Download the Webex Client. Use this for devices with multiple users. For example: msiexec /i Webex.msi EMAIL=$SAMAccountName ALLUSERS=1Combining the EMAIL parameter with an authentication method, such as Kerberos or mTLS, allows users to sign in automatically. When you use the EMAIL parameter, users can't change the Webex identity they use to sign in. ENABLEOUTLOOKINTEGRATION Specifies whether Webex App registers with Microsoft Outlook for presence integration. You need administrative privileges to change it. The default value is 0. Examples: msiexec /i c:\work\Webex.msi ENABLEOUTLOOKINTEGRATION=1 ALLUSERS=1 Webex App registers with Microsoft Outlook for presence integration on Windows. Users can change Connect Webex to Microsoft Outlook in Webex settings. msiexec /i c:\work\Webex.msi ENABLEOUTLOOKINTEGRATION=0 ALLUSERS=1 Webex App doesn’t register with Microsoft Outlook for presence integration on Windows (default). This setting grays out (disables) the Connect Webex to Microsoft Outlook control for all users. You must have administration access privileges to change this option. FORCELOCKDOWN Applies only to the bundle install packages. Locks the meetings desktop app if it’s a compatible version with the meeting site. You need administrative privileges to change it. Example: msiexec /i WebexBundle.msi FORCELOCKDOWN=LockWhenCompatible INSTALL_ROOT Specifies the install folder for the Webex App. Example: msiexec /i c:\work\Webex.msi INSTALL_ROOT="C:\Program Files" ALLUSERS=1 INSTALLWV2 Installs the WebView2 embedded browser from Microsoft when installing Webex App. Webex App requires this embedded browser. Learn more about WebView2 and Webex. Example: msiexec /i c:\work\Webex.msi INSTALLWV2=1 FORCECLIENTSPCOMPATIBLEVERSIONNO Applies only to the bundle install packages. This parameter extends the Webex Meeting client version to be compatible with the meeting site. Webex Meeting client gets a version number that’s greater among the ClientSPCompatibleVersionNo or ForceClientSPCompatibleVersionNo. You need administrative privileges to change it. For example: msiexec /i WebexBundle.msi FORCECLIENTSPCOMPATIBLEVERSIONNO=10 PREVENT_PRELOGIN_UPDATES This parameter can be used to ensure that Webex App only updates after the user signs in. By default, Webex App checks for software updates both pre-signin and post-signin. Only post-signin updates can be guaranteed to follow organization settings for updates, since in the pre-signin case the user's organization is not known. The Webex App won’t check for updates if either of the following registry entries is set to 1: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cisco Spark Native\PreventPreloginUpdates HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cisco Spark Native\PreventPreloginUpdates For example: msiexec /i c:\work\Webex.msi PREVENT_PRELOGIN_UPDATES=1 ALLUSERS=1 Running the app Webex App has its own automatic update solution that’s independent from the Windows operating system. The app can automatically update without the knowledge of the Windows operating system, so the installed version of the app may be different from the version theComments
