MP4 VirtualDub Solution: Convert and Import MP4 to VirtualDub

In order to open MP4 (and other video files) in VirtualDub you need a plugin called ‘Virtualdub FFMpeg Input Plugin‘. Installation: Download the plug in and unzip it in VirtualDub’s folder. The ZIP contains two folder one for Windows 32 bit and one for Windows 64 bits. You can delete the one that you don’t need.In my case, the plug in installed looks like this:c:Program FilesVirtualDubplugins32FFInputDriver.vdpluginc:Program FilesVirtualDubplugins32ffdllsavcodec-55.dllc:Program FilesVirtualDubplugins32ffdllsavformat-55.dllc:Program FilesVirtualDubplugins32ffdllsavutil-52.dllc:Program FilesVirtualDubplugins32ffdllsswscale-2.dllThis plugin is freeware and open source. And yes, it also works with H264 (H264 MPEG-4 AVC) movies.Enjoy 🙂Update 2018A video editor that has EMBEDDED (yes, no codec needed) support for MP4 is AviDemux.Avidemux is a free video editor designed forsimple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks. It supports many filetypes, including AVI, DVD compatible MPEG files, MP4 and ASF, using avariety of codecs. It is not quite as sophisticated as VirtualDub but is definitively much more easier to use. I use it mainly to crop movies, and as I said it works with many popular formats, right out of the box.Video related tools: Places an animated video/GIF file directly on your desktop. I'd be willing to go ahead if permissions for every Encoder and filter does not need to be obtained separately. I have written several programs that contain Open Source and when I inquired they simply said I must include the source code with it. Don't know if that's the same for all of them. My Tools folder is 2.5 GB I've got a few programs in there also though, including Selur's Hybrid program Which is 236 MB. All the essential encoders and supporting dlls are around 50 MB.Selur would probably be the guy to ask about the encoders since he has those encoders in his free program. Avery wouldn't have a problem but it wouldn't hurt to ask in the Virtualdub forum. There are a few that you can't distribute like fdkaac or neroaacenc but there are substitutes. ffmpeg has a few encoders as you know. If they would implement a few more then you wouldn't need many. Member The file sizes I gave above are for most of the external plugins, only MP4Box (for MP4), encoders (Neroaacenc, X264, Mp4 Box) FFMpeg (no FFProbe or FFPlay) and VirtualDub itself. This allows me to run all video files in VirtualDub and convert to MPeg2, FLV, and MP4 file types so far with AVC, AAC, MP2, Mpeg2 formats. Guess I could create the installer and anything I couldn't distribute, make a popup that says go here and download this and put it in C:\tools folder. Member Not very pretty sure, just a rough guess.Would not it be a lot easier running everything in cli mode (if possible?) and write down your own script to trigger others in a particular sequence? Most of of time we normally deal with pretty much same settings. --> Last edited by enim; 29th Aug 2013 at 14:28. I think, that I can do the same things using only VirtualDub, but how the hell can i convert audio to mp2 in virtualdub? Maybe m just sleppy, (it's 8 aM here, after night of ''researchs'') but i cant find any option to convert audio using mpeg-layer II in VirtualDub. MP3, OGG, etc are possible, but mp2 not for me (and i have no problems, converting with xilisoft)// EditLast thing - I'm certain, that all the sync problems portable players have cause their processors can't handle decoding videos with high bitrate. One time, i converted very high quality mpg file, (24 fps, of course) getting 1500 kbps video file in result, (+224 kbps audio) and in more ''dynamic'' moments, video slowdowns were just REALLY big, like 0.70 of normal playback speed or something. Video with low bitrate have no sync problems, but i think that audio interleave about 50 ms is ''trick'' to prevent desync due to video slowdowns.
