Duplicated and repeating text input in macOS Catalina After upgrading to Catalina, I’ve been struck by a very strange issue: When typing and using the keyboard in general (either the built-in keyboard or an external) it will randomly duplicate some of the input, so that I’ll need to go back and edit the jumbled text constantly.While trying to write “Maybe it” just now, I got "Maybe iMaybe t”, in addition to more examples like it. Just got a new MacBook Pro, I've checked the keyboard settings in system preferences, key repeat is set to fast, delay is set to short, but no alpha characters will repeat at all when I hold them down. The only keys that repeat are punctuation, return,delete,spacebar, and arrow keys. Works fine on my old MacBook Air and the settings are exactly the same. The past 2 times I have turned on my TomTom, it picks up a signal almost instantly. I was upset at the fact that since I've had my 720, any time I turned on my 720, it would take more than a minute each time to get a signal, but now FINALLY having quickfix, I now get almsot instant sat fixes NICE #15 Just got a new quickfix today again, so yes, after having had deleted that folder and redownloading the quickfix, now the quickfixes will download automatically without having to ever delete any files or folders again.All I did was delete my "ephemeris" folder on MY COMPUTER (not the TomTom) and it fixed everything. As I said I now no longer have to delete that folder, everything is good now. #16 Ok, so as i said yesterday, this worked for me. I downloaded the new gps quick fix.So today i restarted my computer for some other things etc. and wanted to do a few more things on my TT (plus it was acting weird before the restart). Now i started up Home, and it searches for updates, and it says i have a new gpsquickfix and some mapshare updates. So I hit download. It starts it's thing and then it pops up a window:"Error when contacting server forbidden" report error all that jazzNothing ha changed since yesterday. Thought it might be the new USB hub, but i have it plugged right into my computer now, and same thing. I was able o uncheck it and download the mapshare updates. But all errors for the quick fix.So i went in and deleted the files again, same deal, so i restored them.What gives? I just got the ability to download the fix, and now it won't let me again. Using it since I usually just press cmd N to open up a new Finder window (so I deleted that gesture). It’s just easier having two Finder windows open when dragging stuff from folders. But yea, this works in Finder as well.Gesture #4Magic Mouse gesture: Two finger swipe downAction: cmd W Explanation: Staying with the two finger combinations to avoid confusion, I use this to quickly close tabs or apps (not quit them, thats cmd Q). It's very easy when browsing and it doesn't make you go find that small x to close the tab or use the keyboard shortcut.Gestures for FinderWeirdly enough, Apple didn’t make it possible to switch back and forth between previous and next folders by swiping in Finder. Like when using Safari for previous and next pages you visited. They did implement this in the App Store. So I added these commands to quickly go back and forth between folders in Finder. Simply, swiping left or right with one finger will do it. Just like in Safari.Other gestures Making some stuff easier and quicker to acces, I added these extra actions to my wired Apple keyboard: From top to bottom: - I use the diagonal arrows to go to a start or beginning of a sentence. Weirdly enough these commands are not standard on the keyboard. Pressing these buttons without any assigned actions, they just scroll down the page, just like the weird looking page-up keys next to them: ⇞- The ''Show BTT Preferences’’ action was built in, I actually don’t use, but I left it there.- I happen to use the calculator a lot so I also made it very easy to acces by just pressing the F14 key- Last action: F5 opens op Activity monitor, always handy whenever my MacBook starts acting weird or slow, just to see whats up. (damn kernel_task )So if there is a app you use a lot and want really quick acces to it, just assign it to one of the F keys that are not in use.So that’s it for now, I haven’t implemented too many gestures, but the ones I have are making using my Mac a real joy. You can try this app with a different mouse as well, but I haven't tested this since I only use the Apple one. If you do use a Magic Mouse, there is a lot more to discover when using BBT and I hope I showed you the potential of this nice app. You may think all these commands are just making it confusing to use when you can just simply click on tabs or the x to close stuff, but when you use it for a while, you'll get so used to it, you'll be doing the commands without thinking about it.
